I have a porta-cath/ Mediport and going through security has always been troubling. I forgot to carry my card one time and luckily I had the hospital card and doc number with me. We had not left our destination, but I did not want to miss our flight. Permission was granted to continue knowing I might beep again, but never did. I have also beeped in travel destinations and set off store alarms. I get the usual bag check and pat down, but this was also a rare occurrence.
Friends started sharing stories like having an emergency landing in a foreign country that does not allow firearms, and confiscated. So much for the trip to the shoot wild game. Had to rent guns when they got there, poor things.
I only have a story of irony: I traveled once and never again with a bicycle, and therefore I had the bicycle repair kit taken way because I did not put it down in the check in bag. Mainly because I was busy dismantling the steering-handlebar but when I got to security I pleaded not to take this away, the bicycle was going to be my means of transportation home that day, I would have to walk with a steer-less bike! Out came a standard answer, you can go back to check it in your luggage. The plane was being called the lines through security horrendously long, I remember it was just before Christmas, I said to the man, Please don’t through it in the bin. If I can’t have it, wrap it up as a present for your child. There was no poker face, he set it aside on the table. I told you there was irony. here it comes. When I was paging through the magazine to buy something IN-Flight I could buy Swiss arm knife on board. I do believe a Swiss Army Knife is more of a security risk than my folding bike screwdriver!
