Rosh Hashanah or Jewish new year happened to fall on a day my nanny, who is jewish, works. She rushed out of our house to prepare a big meal with several courses going way into the night. 10pm was by no means the stopping time. I was taught a new word, Shevat which you say to mean = happy new year. She mentioned she needed her brother, who is visiting, to bring apples and honey. This is a great tradition that is into their 5077 year ( don’t quote me on the year). Why apples and honey? To enjoy the sweeter parts of life. I love symbolism. I recommend you cut up an apple and pour as much honey as you wish. No cooking needed and enjoy the sweeter parts of life. Not just today, but every day. That is the lesson every cancer patient needs to learn, in my humble opinion.
