“I might as well enjoy my life resuming eating whatever and whenever” and at this point, all hell will break loose.

The purpose is to provide you with ten tips to prevent holiday setbacks. Keep losing weight without losing fun (or at least without gaining weight).

The Holiday Challenge Top Ten Tips

  1. Celebrate at night. Try delaying the “eating fun” towards the end of the day, enjoying your holiday dinner rather than grazing during the day.
  2. Try to keep your meal low glycemic. Turkey, vegetables, rice or plain yams are always superior to pies and sweet desserts.
  3. If you choose to eat a pie, combine it with protein (turkey or meat or cheese) and vegetables, rather than with potatoes, yams or rice; make your choice and enjoy it.
  4. If you choose to drink alcohol, wine is your best choice. Nonetheless, do not drink with carbohydrates or anything sweet. Alcohol can combine only with protein and vegetables.
  5. If you choose to eat nuts after dinner, make your food choices accordingly – skip grains and all sweet treats.
  6. If all hell breaks loose and you had binged on the wrong foods, do not commit a “dietary suicide”. Instead, resume detox a day after – you’ll be surprised how effective this will be in getting you back on the right track.
  7. If you insist on trying everything then reduce the amount that you eat.
  8. Fill yourself with “safe foods” – vegetables and protein – and wait awhile before hitting on anything else. This way you may be able to gain a full sense of satiety before even trying desserts.
  9. Do not deny yourself from the pleasure of holiday meals. Rather gain a pound and lose it a day after instead of feeling deprived and miserable. Prove to yourself that you can enjoy your life without giving up on your progress.
  10. Satisfy your sweet tooth with low glycemic healthy snacks such as berries, apples, low sugar bars or shakes.
